A Legacy of Leadership: Todd Brockwell’s Impact on San Antonio Academy

At San Antonio Academy, leadership is more than a title, it’s a responsibility to uplift, guide, and invest in the future of young men. Few embody this ideal more fully than Todd Brockwell, who served on The Academy’s Board of Trustees for seven years, including two years as Chairman and three as Vice Chairman. His tenure was marked by thoughtful leadership, steady guidance through unprecedented times, and a deep personal commitment to the school’s mission.

A Personal Connection to The Academy

For Todd, San Antonio Academy is not just a place of learning, it’s part of his family’s. story. Both of his sons attended The Academy, and their growth into confident, capable young leaders was a source of immense pride.

“Watching them each rise to the role of battalion commander in their respective final year at The Academy wasn’t just a proud parent moment,” Todd shares. “It was a reflection of the institution’s deep commitment to nurturing character, discipline, and leadership.”

This personal connection fueled his drive to give back in a meaningful way, ensuring that future generations of boys have the same transformational experience.

Guiding Through Challenge and Change

Todd’s time on the board was not without its trials. His leadership coincided with a global pandemic and multiple transitions in school leadership, events that could have easily destabilized a lesser institution.

“Some tough decisions had to be made,” he recalls. “But we navigated them with purpose. The school is as strong as it has ever been, financially and academically.”

Among his proudest accomplishments are helping The Academy reopen in fall 2020 after pandemic closures and ensuring a smooth transition through three headmasters. Under his leadership, the school emerged stronger, with enrollment now surpassing 300 students for the 2025–2026 school year.

A Vision for the Future

Todd’s goals as Chairman were simple yet profound: leave the school better than he found it, support lasting financial stability, and help ensure that San Antonio Academy thrives for another 140 years.

His legacy is grounded in the long-term health of the institution, but also in its alignment with the values he holds dear which are integrity, purpose, and service. “I hope I’ve contributed to the ability of the school to be around for generations of
boys to experience this great place.”

Inspiring the Next Generation

Service, for Todd, has never been about recognition, it’s about action. And the lesson he hopes to pass on to his sons is clear:
“Service isn’t just about showing up, it’s about giving your time, energy, and heart to something greater than yourself.”

Through his dedication to San Antonio Academy, Todd Brockwell has not only advanced the school’s mission to offer an exceptional education intentionally crafted for boys, he’s modeled the very leadership the school strives to instill in every young man.

And that, perhaps, is the greatest legacy of all
