Meet Bobby Jones, CFA, Senior Vice President and Investment Advisor at 1900
Wealth. Bobby provides portfolio management services and financial advice to trusts
administered by Jefferson Bank. He also delivers custom investment solutions to clients
to demystify the investment landscape. Bobby has worked in the financial industry since
2007.
What drew you to the industry and, more specifically, your role within the
industry?
Before 1900 Wealth, I worked for many different types of fund managers, including
equity and debt, public and private. The one thing that was absent was human
interaction. At 1900 Wealth, I’m able to connect with clients, truly deliver value-added
service, and witness the impact firsthand.
What skills do you bring to your position and to servicing your clients?
I’ve accumulated almost two decades of hands-on investing experience in virtually all
asset classes. That allows me to cut through the headlines and noise and try to focus
on what truly impacts long-term results. I bring an independent viewpoint to our clients
to prevent them from getting caught up in groupthink, which can lead to cookie-cutter
outcomes.
What differentiates 1900 Wealth from your competitors?
1900 Wealth sets itself apart with the relationships our team forms with clients and by
doing the right thing. Our clients are more than just entries on a computer screen. We
are a firm led by former institutional investors and operators. That means we
understand what makes an investment attractive versus a trend. We know how hard it is
to run a business and earn a dollar; therefore, we know how to interact with our clients
and respect how hard they worked to earn their wealth in the first place. We don’t take
anything for granted. We strive to earn our clients’ business every day.
What current market trends do you see?
Philosophically, we do not try to speculate on what will or won’t happen over time. We
aim to construct portfolios that deliver outcomes aligned with our clients’ circumstances
and investment objectives. While not a trend, per se, I see very interesting opportunities
in fixed income and private equity.
What do you enjoy most about working at 1900 Wealth?
The team, hands down! I look forward to each day on my way into the office. I enjoy the
debate, support, and camaraderie with a talented group of colleagues. We all work hard
but have fun with each other while working, and it speaks to the team that Todd
(Brockwell) has assembled.
What are some of your favorite local spots or activities in or around San Antonio?
The Tejas Rodeo in Bulverde. Saturday nights come alive and showcase all that makes
Texas great. I was recently invited to chaperone a seventh-grade birthday party and
couldn’t believe I hadn’t been there before. It is a wonderful place to witness the action
and line dance afterward
